Families in the Gulf Coast need your help more than ever!
The devastation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast began in 2005 with hurricanes Rita and Katrina. In 2008, hundreds of displaced residents were still living in dangerous temporary housing when Hurricane Gustav ravaged the area. Now, more than ever, families in the Gulf Coast need our thoughts, prayers and actions. The Thrivent Builds Gulf Coast Community program makes it easy for you to help one of these families.
Thrivent Builds Worldwide Gulf Coast Community
This program brings members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans together, along with other Lutherans and volunteers, to build homes with partner families in need of simple, decent, affordable housing.
On behalf of its members, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans committed $2.5 million to Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2008 to build up to 40 homes—nearly all in the Trace Lane community—and contribute to the affiliate’s ability to serve more families.
In 2009, Thrivent Financial will start building a new Community in Gulfport, Mississippi where it is committing an additional $1.7 million.
